Great news for Browns fans! Cornerback Denzel Ward has officially cleared concussion protocol, as confirmed by head coach Kevin Stefanski on Friday. This means Ward will be back in action for the highly anticipated home opener against the Bengals at Cleveland Browns Stadium this Sunday.
Ward’s journey to recovery began after he entered concussion protocol following the final preseason game against the Chiefs. He showed significant progress throughout the week, going from a limited participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday to becoming a full participant in Friday’s practice session.

Ward’s return couldn’t have come at a better time for the Browns, especially considering the formidable receiving corps of the Bengals. Coach Stefanski emphasized Ward’s vital role in the team’s defensive strategy, stating, “Denzel is a big part of what we do. So, excited that he was able to get out of concussion protocol safely and have a good week at practice. So, as you know, he’s a big part of what we do. Good football player. We know what’s at stake with their offensive attack, certainly with the guys that they have on the perimeter and in the slot. So, it’s a big boost.”
With Ward back in action, Browns fans can look forward to a stronger defensive lineup as they take on the Bengals in what promises to be an exciting home opener.
